Student Wellbeing
Our Mission: Developing Well-Beings
At Suzanne Cory High School, our Wellbeing Program is dedicated to nurturing students who are well-beings in every sense. We aim to equip our students with the ability to recognise their strengths and their areas for self-development. Our focus is on fostering a community where students support one another, feel confident in seeking help when needed, and are well-informed about how to access supports available. We believe that a strong sense of wellbeing is the foundation for personal and academic success.
Our vision is that students are provided with the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge that will allow them to monitor and respond to others’ and their own wellbeing needs, and live a life where they feel happy, healthy, capable and engaged.
Our programs are designed to foster the development of positive and productive relationships across year levels, across the school and within the community. In doing this we create an environment where empathy, compassion and inclusivity are prioritised, where the social skills of communication, collaboration and conflict resolution are developed and an acute sense of belonging, and identity are forged. By learning and embodying the school values, students leave our school equipped to succeed in a dynamic, complex and ever-changing world.
By prioritising student wellbeing, Suzanne Cory High School is committed to creating an environment where every student can reach their full potential.
Proactive Wellbeing Approach
We take a proactive approach to student wellbeing, focusing on empowering students with the knowledge and skills to understand and manage their own wellbeing. Our program includes a dedicated team of proactive wellbeing leaders and a newly developed wellbeing curriculum taught by specialised staff. Central to our proactive approach is our values system, which recognises and rewards expected behaviours and positive contributions to the school community. By building these capabilities, we aim to help students navigate the challenges of adolescence with resilience and confidence.

Structured Support System
At Suzanne Cory High school, we recognise that student wellbeing is influenced by a range of biological, social, emotional, cognitive and environmental factors. The structured supports that are in place promote a culture of prevention and early intervention. Our structured support includes staff within each student’s House who are trained to respond to student’s needs during difficult times. Additionally, our Student Support Services team offers a range of services, accessible through both a student self-referral and staff referral process. This system ensures that every student receives timely and appropriate support when they need it most.

Partnership with Families and the Community
We recognise that student wellbeing is a shared responsibility. Suzanne Cory High School works closely with students and their families to build capacity to respond to individual needs. Our aim is to create a unified community that supports our students to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
